Stop the Spread of COVID-19: A Simple Guide from Captivate Dental

by | May 8, 2020 | COVID-19

Testing for coronavirus is now widely available across Australia.

If you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms, arrange a test by calling your doctor or contact the Coronavirus Health Information Hotline on 1800 020 080.

The federal government’s coronavirus tracing app COVIDSafe is available for download from your phone’s app store.

In light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, Captivate Dental is urging people to refrain from touching their face. Is it too much to ask?

From picking objects up to turning knobs, we’re touching contaminated surfaces.

The virus can be picked up by our hands and get into the body through the eyes, nose, and mouth that act as pathways to the throat and lungs.

Follow these simple tips to prevent the spread of the virus:

  • Wash your hands with clean soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and help young children do the same. If there’s no access to soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Viruses that cause colds can enter your body this way and make you sick
  • Practise social distancing. Keep at least 1-metre distance between anyone, especially when you’re in public places.

If you have symptoms such as difficulty breathing or experiencing cold or flu symptoms, arrange a test by calling your doctor or contact the Coronavirus Health Information Hotline on 1800 020 080.

Symptoms include:

  • Fever
  • Coughing
  • Sore throat
  • Fatigue, and
  • Shortness of breath

We can all help flatten the curve in Australia. Watch this video for more information on protecting yourself from the virus.
